Turnkey Retrofit of Obsolete Generator Paralleling Switchgear Control System and Auxiliary Equipment


Project Goal
Complete overhaul of current health care facility back-up power system, to improve system function and satisfy all required codes
Project Scope
- Remove all obsolete ASCO syncropower paralleling switchgear control components
- Identify, label, and document all existing control wires between the SWGR and all ATS’s
- Install new engine sensors, new governor actuators, and new static exciters.
- Install new starters, and battery system, 32VDC to 24VDC
- Install new paralleling breakers
- Set trip units based on calculations from appropriate coordination study
- Install new generator control system
- Install and wired/programmed manual and automatic load shed controls
- Install new governor controls
- Identify and correctly terminated wiring to indicate ATS position, for all ATS’s in the hospital
- Install new remote annunciators
- Tune static exciters and governors for proper operation
- Complete commission testing of system
- Verify that load control works as designed
- Verify all protective functions
- Verify all auxiliary systems
- Provide full on-site training to hospital staff
- Complete and provide as-built drawings and project binder, including component manuals and documents – Binder also includes a copy of the most recent program, from each control system
